What Would He Really Know?

So my VCR is broken. This is actually not a huge problem, I do have a Tivo but because I already broke part of my TV, the VCR plays an integral part of my television watching process. See I only have regular cable not Direct TV so my Tivo only records one thing at a time. This is not extraordinarily helpful as I like to watch one thing while something else is recording. The funny thing is I have now broken the coaxial cable input on both my TV and VCR.
Anyway, I immediately decided I needed a new VCR, and well hey if I’m going to get one I might as well get a combo DVD player. So I’m perusing my one of my favorite sites, Overstock.com. Now is there really a difference between JVC, RCA, Emerson and all these other brands? I’m guessing not, but I get the feeling the other half that I am currently missing would know. So once again I find myself thinking how nice it would be if I had a boyfriend. Not that I would necessarily end up with a boyfriend who is at all electronically knowledgeable but somehow I just want some cute boy to be able to tell me which one to get. And I’m not talking about any cute boy, I could got to Best Buy with a skirt and lip gloss and get some supposedly knowledgeable, but only because he can read the box, sales kid’s opinion. What I really want is help picking the right one because. My boy would know me, and my television watching habits, he would know my TV set up and would be able to help me pick just the right one. And theoretically he would be there to help me set up.
Now I’m perfectly capable of setting up my own VCR, in fact that’s my family job when I go home. I set all the clocks, the VCRs, the Tivos, the DVDs and pretty much any other electronic or computer item my family brings into the house. And then I leave them post-it notes about the right channels and remotes to use them. Yes, I’m a still quite helpful to have around.
So here I am Sunday night wishing for a wise opinion of a theoretical boy when in reality I’m sure if I was in the same circumstance with real boyfriend, he would probably give me his unsolicited opinion which I would dismiss, and just pick my own VCR, because really why does he think he knows more about this than me, its not like he ever worked at Best Buy.

1000 First Blogs

So I've had a lot of things planned for my first blog. I've been thinking about it non stop for days. Every night I drive home and a thousand topics run through my head. But I walk through my front door and my red tivo light wasn't on. It's Thursday night, why wouldn't my tivo recording light be on at 10:04pm. Has the power gone out, no the green light is on. I can see the time on the VCR. Panic is now shooting through me. What should be recording right now, is the tivo full? OMG what would happen if - please no- what if The OC wasn't recorded. I've had a deep seated fear all day that Veronica Mars didn't record last night and it was the one that has the alternate ending, its supposed to be the meteor shower event for Neptune. This was Rob Thomas' favorite ep. Now the tivo light isn't on. I've been working late all week and haven't had a chance to check the status of my shows. Standing in the dark I take a breath and and hit the power, come on already what is "now playing." Wow there it is, at the top of the screen, The OC, and surprisingly Reunion, which I'm happy to see and I look a little farther down Veronica Mars and One Tree Hill. Now my early to bed, easier to rise theory will not be tested. I have two, but honestly because of my serious lack of will power, I have at least three hours of TV to watch.

So now here I am with my first blog entry and my OC gang, my tivo loves me and it’s only one day till the weekend! OMG they just said like 50% of people meet their future mates in college. I will stop here and leave that statement for another day. His little “snow angel” I love Seth.
